Alexander Marjanovic – The architect who recognized the importance of air quality in the hotel industry
Who Is Alexander Marjanovic?
Alexander Marjanovic is the Design Director at ReardonSmith Architects in London. He takes a pragmatic and innovative approach to architecture. First, he focuses intensely on each client. Then, he views every building through the lens of user comfort and well-being. At the same time, he follows strong sustainability principles. Because of this mix, his projects achieve a rare, holistic quality.
Moreover, Alexander stays close to nature in his thinking. He also welcomes new techniques, materials, and methods. However, he never compromises on comfort, health, or sustainability. As a result, people experience his spaces as noticeably positive and human-centered. Importantly, he is one of the few architects who clearly recognize the crucial role of indoor air quality in hotels.
Alexander also believes that travel and exploration are part of human nature. Therefore, his mindset fits perfectly with the most significant part of his work — hotels.
The Beaumont Hotel
Alexander introduced an unconventional air treatment solution at The Beaumont Hotel in London. During a CPD presentation by Gordana Blagić and Vladimir Janaćković at the ReardonSmith Architects office, he immediately saw the full benefit of DBD (dielectric barrier discharge) technology in ventilation systems.
He knew a simple fact: air makes up almost 90% of the spaces he designs. Because of that, air quality strongly shapes comfort and health. So, he decided to push this area to the highest standard as well. He presented the idea of applying DBD technology from the German company Bioclimatic GmbH to The Beaumont Hotel’s owners. They welcomed the idea enthusiastically. Consequently, the solution was installed across the entire hotel, on all central ventilation systems.
Gold at The Brit List Awards 2022
Because he understands the value of clean indoor air in hospitality, Marjanovic submitted the Marquis Intelligence solution to The Brit List Awards 2022. The project won gold. It received first prize in the Best in Tech category. After the award, he also gave an interview. You can see the details here.
